20 Birders, 51 Species

Baby Barn Swallows were a highlight for 20 birders at Canalway in the Cleveland Metroparks Ohio and Erie Canal Reservation.  Birding was great by the parking lot, with a Brown Thrasher, singing Yellow Warblers, an Indigo Bunting, plus many Cedar Waxwings. Golf carts made the steep descent into the valley more accessible for all birders. Everywhere birds were tending their little ones.  Starlings, Tree Swallows and Red-bellied Woodpeckers popped in and out of tree holes with food. A Baltimore Oriole fed youngsters in a tree. Several Canada Goose families with goslings added up to 55 individuals.
