Field trip Sunday, March 10, 2013
Lorain Metro Parks Carlisle Reservation Equestrian Area
Leaders: Terri Martincic and Harry Spencer
Carlisle Reservation, at 1,917 acres is the largest of the Lorain
Metro Parks. A mild
spring day brought out early migrants including singing Eastern
Meadowlarks, Killdeer and Eastern Towhee.
Black River Audubon Society maintains more than 70 bluebird
boxes here, and Eastern Bluebirds clearly appreciate them.
A Northern Harrier got our day off to a good start, and a
Red-shouldered Hawk gave good looks over a wetland midway around the
loop. Thanks go to Rich
Kassouf who kept track of bird species and numbers for e-Bird.
16 Birders and 28 Species (+1 other taxa) total
