Field trip at Lake Erie Nature and Science Center,

 Huntington Reservation, Cleveland Metroparks

Sunday, September 23, 2012

Leaders: Terri Martincic and Marty Reynard

Rain did not deter the Girl Scouts of Troop 774, West Park from a birding expedition with Western Cuyahoga Audubon Society.  Highlights were a mixed flock of thrushes, including Gray-cheeked and Swainson's, a flyby of a Red-tailed Hawk and a Barred Owl, and close-up near-ground views of American Redstart and Black-throated Blue Warblers.  Amy LeMonds, wildlife rehabilitator at Lake Erie Nature and Science Center provided a close-up encounter with a Great Horned Owl. The owl called! Woo hoo-hoo hoo hoo!
