Field Trip to Margaret Peak Nature Preserve, Lorain County

Saturday, June 7, 2014  8 a.m.

Leader: Jeanne Williams

17 birders, 47 species

Duration:  2 hour(s), 40 minute(s)

Distance: 2.2 mile(s)

On this sunny, temperate June day, Horned Larks proved dependable as ever in the soybean field at Peak Preserve.  Nesting Spotted Sandpipers and Killdeer protested the presence of  17 birders.   Yellow Warblers, Common Yellowthroat and Field, Song and Swamp Sparrows sang near the ponds.  Jeanne Williams was a welcoming and knowledgeable leader, describing the history and natural history of this former vegetable and sod farm turned nature preserve.  Thanks Rich and Karen Kassouf for sending the bird list to eBird.
