Sandy Ridge Field Trip

Saturday, March 8, 2014

Leader: Tim Fairweather

15 Birders, 25 Species

Red-winged Blackbirds and Song Sparrows sang their spring songs, in spite of snow on the ground and ice on the wetland at Sand Ridge Reservation of Lorain Metro Parks.  A few Canada Geese sat and strolled on the icy surfaces of the ponds. The only other waterfowl were the beautiful taxidermy specimens inside the Johnson Wetland Center. Highlights of the walk were the Red-headed Woodpecker, Brown Creepers and nesting Bald Eagles and Great Horned Owls.
