Wildwood/Villa Angela Field Trip
Sunday, September 16, 2012
Leader: Nancy Anderson
16 birders, 39 species
A flock of thirteen or more Northern Flickers put on a show at Villa
Angela / Wildwood park, located on Lake Erie at the mouth of Euclid
Creek. Birders found Black-crowned Night Herons and several warbler
species. Painted Lady
butterflies, Monarchs and Mourning Cloaks sparkled in the sun.
Dozens of boaters and fishermen were also enjoying a beautiful fall
day. Euclid Creek is being restored to its original stream bed.
We had a look at the progress on this project which will
provide access to the island while restoring wetlands where a
variety of fish can spawn. Thanks to our leader Nancy Anderson and
to Jeanne Hrenko who assisted.
