Western Cuyahoga Audubon
Society West Creek Reservation Field Trip Sunday, October 18th, 2015 at 9:30am 12 birders and 24 species 12 birders braved some wintery type weather in the form of rain, sleet and snow to walk the paths of West Creek Reservation in search of late fall migrants. Although the inclement weather lasted for more than half of our walk, it did brighten up a bit as we began circling the open area of the park. Here we encountered several flocks of American Goldfinches darting back and forth across the path. The birds seemed to be waking from the early morning weather as we combed the wetland area with Song Sparrows, White-throated Sparrows and a pair of Turkey Vultures appearing. The highlight of the walk was a distant, calling Barred Owl as we headed to the Watershed Center to tally our species for the day. |
