Birding Buddies IBA favorite walk

Saturday, April 4, 2009

Six birders met by Mastick Woods Golf Course and walked the trail by the stables. Chilly gray weather to begin, turning to sunshine and blue skies.

Our goal was seven woodpeckers. We had to settle for five. There were several Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers along the way. Other highlights were three spiraling Brown Creepers and a circling Bald Eagle.

This was an impromptu walk, a get-together to enjoy a great birding spot in the Rocky River Important Bird Area.

We hope to have more! Let us know if you would like to suggest a time and place. Definitely if the Cliff Swallows return, we will e-mail everyone for a walk. To have an invite sent to the group, send e-mail to info@wcasohio.org or contact Penny at 216-676-4859, or pjo@earthlink.net
