Forest Hill Park

Unfortunately, there’s no major street that gets you directly to Forest Hill
Park. You might think of just taking the Lee Road exit from I-480, but in the
end that will be a slow route.
There are two entrances to the park on Lee Road, one in Cleveland Hts and one in
East Cleveland. These directions are to the entrance in Cleveland Hts, which
lies closer to the best birding areas.
From the east: Take Monticello Blvd (that is what Wilson Mills Road is called
west of Richmond Road) to Lee Blvd. Turn right, then make an almost immediate
left into the park. If you’re coming from the far eastern part of Cuyahoga
County or beyond, Wilson Mills Road is the northernmost exit on the LOCAL lanes
of I-271.
From the west, there are a couple of possibilities:
- If
you’re coming from along the lakeshore, take I-90/2 past the ML king exit,
and get off at the Eddy Rd. exit. Take eddy Road all the way to Euclid
Avenue, where it ends. Turn right onto Euclid. The next major intersection
is Superior Rd. Take a left onto Superior and go up the hill. When Superior
crosses Mayfield Rd., take a left. The very next left is Monticello; take
that street. The very next left is Lee Blvd. (in effect, you will have just
driven around the big Heights Recreation Pavilion) Take that left onto Lee,
and the entrance to the park will be on your left almost immediately.
Or, if you’re coming from Cleveland, or the south or the southwest:
- Get
onto Carnegie Ave going east (the Innerbelt exit onto Carnegie puts you in
the right direction, or if you are coming up via I-&&, you can get off at
the East 55th Street exit, and turn left onto E. 55th up to Carnegie, then
turn right). Take Carnegie all the way to university Circle, where it ends.
Keep going straight ahead through the circle and up the hill (you’re now on
Cedar Rd.). At the top of the hill, go straight ahead on Euclid Hts Blvd.
until you reach Lee Blvd (you will cross Coventry and Superior). Turn left
on Lee, and almost immediately after crossing Monticello, you will enter the
park on your left.
