Hinckley Twp Property on Rt 303 & River
November 2, 2008

Here is the bird list from the November 2 walk in Hinckley:

Turkey Vulture                  3  (how apropos)
Cooper’s Hawk                 1
Downy Woodpecker          5
Red-bellied Woodpecker    2
Blue Jay                           5
American Crow                 3
Black-capped Chickadee   4
Tufted Titmouse                1
White-breasted Nuthatch   3
Carolina Wren                  3
Eastern Bluebird               6
American Robin               12
European Starling            12
Cedar Waxwing              135
Am. Tree Sparrow            10
Song Sparrow                   2
White-throated Sparrow     4
Northern Cardinal              3
House Finch                    45
American Goldfinch          69

The fields are great for goldfinch and sparrows, shrubs included autumn olive and multiflora rose which attracted the robin, waxwings and house finch.  Surprising were the number house finch.  While a housing development is nearby, it would not seem that that many HOFI would be around and not a single House Sparrow seen or heard.  Will be interesting to see what is out there at different times of the year.
