South Mastick Field Trip,

Cleveland Metroparks Rocky River Reservation

Saturday, April 10, 2010, 8–10 a.m.

Trip Leader: Dave Graskemper

A Bald Eagle perched by the river, offering a close-up look. Spring birds were in evidence: Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers, Brown Creepers, Yellow-rumped Warblers and Eastern Bluebirds. Bright sunshine made up for morning temperatures in the high 30’s.

As a post-script, a few from the group traveled to see a Great Horned Owl nest near Willow Bend. An owlet mostly in feathers, but partly in down was perched on a limb near the nest.
